Nine By Thirty

I have blogged about Nine By Thirty  but that was almost 2 years ago. Aparna of Nine By Thirty offers you exquisite, hand-crafted jewelry. There is sleek silver for the minimalists, rich colors and texture for the Bohemians and really, there is something for everyone. The best thing is when you see the jewelry, you will love the colors, admire the craftsmanship and feel the love with which they were made. I went a little crazy with the number of pictures but honestly, who can resist these beauties?!

Visit Nine By Thirty here to browse her entire collection.

Thanks, Chitra!

Yes, We Can

This is a rambling post and you can skip it if you want.

Everything looks better after a cup of spiced (a potpourri of black pepper, ginger and cardamom) chai. I am sorry I have been missing from the blog. I have had so many deadlines to meet that I have been getting hardly any sleep. I thought I would unwind over the weekend but it was the usual whirlwind of activity. I am looking forward to a vacation even though it is more than likely that my next one will be in the summer of 2013! Imagine that! So far away and as tantalizing as a mirage! When I decided to go back to graduate school, I knew it would involve a lot of work (and very little sleep and vacation time!) but it still amazes me how much I can get done in the space of one day.
Like many women, I am used to looking at myself and focusing on the faults. Do you do that? But these days, I am discovering the positives too. Yes, I am going to be 40 this year and yes, I went back to graduate school. Yes, I drive back and forth from my university everyday and my commute is horrendous. (HORRENDOUS.) I have two kids and I drive in 2 school carpools. I fix lunches and dinners, write term papers, attend classes, take my kids to soccer, work in a research lab studying the bacteria in our bodies and blog whenever I have the opportunity. You bet, I am tired but I also feel amazing. And I am not the only one. Each one of us works hard at life and living and it would be wonderful if we could all see how amazing we truly are. Each. one. of. us.
So, yes, I am focusing on the summer of 2013 (when I do plan to go on a LONG vacation) but also, on the everyday joys of just living
(Art, design and decor-related posts will be back later today.)

Kilim Love

I know many of us are heading towards warmer weather but I had to share this photoshoot from Alt I Hemmet (Sweden) with gorgeous kilims everywhere. This is definitely my kind of room with all the earthy warm tones against the coolness of the walls. If I were an expert on ethnic textiles, I would be able to tell you why red, greens and dark blues were so commonly used- the availability of those dyes maybe? All I can say is that you can't go wrong with that combination. Does it appeal to you?

Dear Diary...

I wasn't going to blog today because I am up to my ears in end of semester papers. But writing a post, to me, is akin to a Dear Diary entry and you never know when or what (or who) is going to inspire you enough to write. And, here I am.

This picture popped into my email inbox today morning and it was enough to set my heart racing. Honestly, the folks at Serena and Lily totally get me! The products that have a East + West vibe ( I know I have typed that a million times but it is so true!), the styling, the colors, the photography- I don't know which one to blame but I fall for them every single time. Every. Single. Time. There you go! This is now a typical diary entry: you know, about my latest crush.

Amy Butler Designs

There is nothing like visiting the Amy Butler site for chasing away the grey and gloomy tones of an overcast day. Vibrant colors in striking patterns surround you and lift up your mood! The Gypsy Caravan collection has bohemian chic written all over it ....

Since my sewing skills are lamentable, I am wondering if I can convince my Mom to make one of these gumdrop poufs for me. They are just adorable.

But that's not all! Amy Butler has designed skins for your smart phone, laptop and iPad and though I normally don't put covers or skins on my phone or my laptop, this is the one time I will happily make an exception. So cool and individual!

Love this one because it reminds me of Iznik pottery. I am going to get this one!

Visit the Amy Butler Designs site here. You can find the techno skins here.
