One of the best things that has happened as a result of my writing this blog is hearing from so many talented people. Earlier today, I heard from textile designer Kate Ball about her London-based block printing venture Buta and Buti (traditional Mughal floral motifs used in block printing). She lived in India and worked with the block print artisans to design her fabrics, both apparel and home furnishings. Her designs bring a European aesthetic to the traditional patterns and colors and (I have said this a million times but bear with me!) when East meets West, something magical happens!
Buta and Buti aims to work with the block print artisan community and support them; they have also started work with a hand loom weaving community in Andhra Pradesh. You can visit Buta and Buti here.
