We debated about traveling to colder climates in the winter but as we hadn't been to Europe during the Christmas season, we decided to take the chance anyway. It was beautiful. There were Christmas markets selling cakes and breads, gingerbread houses, macarons and a hundred types of candy, woolen shawls knitted and embroidered by patient hands, metalwork, jewelry, souvenirs and more. Everywhere we went, we saw clusters of white tents, all dressed up in fairy lights and we were drawn to them like moths to a flame. We went to a few in Paris and I am going to forever remember standing in a warm tent and biting into the crisp shell of a rose macaron while a fine mist obscured everything outside.
